I've had many therapist in my life. They have all been really good at there jobs and helped me as much as they could.

However, after my very first meeting with Dr. P, I knew I would never have a better therapist or even want another therapist.

She is the epitome of what an amazing psychologist should be like. Not only is she an angel on Earth, she gets to the root of the problem by asking the RIGHT questions, which requires you to truly be honest with yourself even if it the answer is something you don’t want to hear. I’ve never had so much insight about myself.

Yes I have a long road ahead, but that’s ok. She has given me so many tools to use and has given me the confidence to achieve something great in my life. It’s a lot of work but it’s completely worth it. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been happy but now I walk on clouds all day because I’ve learned that I need to be honest with myself, I’m learning how to manage my mental illness, and like I said before, she is an angel walking this earth.

I would definitely recommend Dr. P if you are ready to grow, ready to love yourself, ready to just be the best you that you are capable of being. I understand now that I am a worthwhile human being, even though I have stumbled in the past and will do so in the future because I have CBT and DBT skills in my toolbox and you bet I am using them.

Define your goals. Think about what you would like to get out of counseling. It might be helpful to write a list of events, relationship issues, or feelings that you think are contributing to your distress

Be an active participant. This is your counseling experience, so be as active as you can in deciding how to use the time. Be honest with the counselor and give her or him feedback about how you see the sessions progressing.

Be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, effort, and patience. All of your coping skills, behavior patterns, and self-perceptions have been learned and reinforced over a long period of time, so change can be difficult and slow at times.

Follow your counselor's recommendations. Take the time between sessions to complete any activities suggested by your counselor. Counseling is intended to improve your life in the "real world," so making efforts to try out and practice new behaviors, approaches, or ways of thinking could be a crucial element to the success of your counseling experience..
